TRANSPONDERS

AMB Tranx 260

1. Ensure that the transponder holder is fitted securely, preferably using bolts and Nylock nuts. (If tie-wraps are used at least two sufficiently strong tie-wraps are needed to secure the holder)

2. The transponder must be mounted VERTICALLY and NOT horizontally.

3. The securing pin must be at the top.

4. Fit the transponder holder in a safe and secure position.

5. Mount the transponder so that it is preferably no more than 2 ft (60 cm) from the ground.

6. Mount the transponder so that it is away from heat generating bodies such as the exhaust.

7. Mount the transponder so that it has as clear a view of the ground as possible.

Note: The transponder signal will not pass through metal or carbon fibre based plastics.

8. Push the 'R' clip right through as far as possible in order to prevent it being accidentally pushed out. Lockwiring the prongs of the 'R' clip is recommended.

9. The transponder must be fitted whenever your vehicle is on the course, including free and timed practice sessions.

10. The transponder must be charged and 'flashing' green when it is presented for scrutineering. When fully charged the green light will flash three times.

Remember: Three green flashes indicates that the transponder will function for approximately three days. Two green flashes indicates two days.

11. Transponders are best charged on the mains (usually for at least 14 hours). It is not advisable to use a car cigarette lighter socket, and generators are often totally ineffective.

No time will be recorded at all if the transponder is not fitted or has not been charged.
